We believe all dogs should have the chance to have a good run around off-lead, exploring and having fun – in a safe environment.
That’s why we’ve built a secure, 2.5 acre enclosed dog walking field with fun agility and play equipment just for dogs.
Based just 15 minutes from Penrith, 20 minutes from Ullswater and 25 minutes from Keswick – we’re the perfect place to bring your dogs for an off-lead walk or play session.
A great place for your dog to run around off the lead - our jack Russel is now flat out .

Went on holiday to Keswick with 4 dogs in total. I booked before the holiday but after using the field booked again before we came home. Was lovely to be able to relax in a safe environment. Not only did the dogs love it but my two young grandchildren enjoyed playing in the field. Will definitely book again next year.
Dropped in at Welly and Tails for our two labradors on holiday in Cumbria, what a place! It has more than enough space! Enclosed, which makes it even better for those dogs who have a never-ending “play with me” attitude! You get a 50 minute slot, and the place is all yours! Unlimited water is available on site which is brilliant for the furry ones! Toys are also there for use of others, as long as you put them back and there is plenty of dog bins, with poo bags above them so there’s no excuse!☺️ To say it’s a dog agility/adventure park it is ridiculously well kept. The owners of this place should be very proud of themselves it’s a great place to go! And if we should, ever holiday back in Cumbria, we will be back! The dogs loved every second!
How to find Welly and Tails Dog Park
We are about 15 minutes from Penrith town, and 20 minutes from Keswick, in a village called Skelton.
We are located on the road between villages Ellonby and Blencow (the road doesn’t have a name!).
If coming through Skelton village, turn left off Ellonby Road when you reach the crossroads at Ellonby, passing a farm on the corner on your left. The entrance to Welly and Tails is around 100 metres further down that road, just past a layby.
We have signs on the entrance – make sure not to turn down the farm track, if you don’t see our sign on the roadside then you’re in the wrong place 🙂

What does it cost?
Price is for a 50 minute exclusive booking:

Private Hire
When you book our 2.5 acre field, it’s just for your use only (and friends and family if there are a group of you using the field), so you can be confident that no one else will be using the field while you’re in there.
It’s a safe, welcoming space for you and your dogs.
Secure
We’ve installed 6 foot tornado wire fencing all around the paddock to make it extra secure and safe. But please keep your dog on lead until you are inside the 6 ft fenced field as there will be livestock in neighbouring fields.
To keep things running as smoothly as possible, we run on 50 minute slots so there’s no crossover between parties coming and going.
Fun
Who wants to walk round a boring field? We have wooden agility and play equipment – with exciting ramps and tractor tyres to jump through and a sandpit for digging! Just remember to read the rules about safety and agility equipment first.

FAQ
How can I check how many appointments are left on my package code?
If you’ve bought a package or gift voucher for multiple appointments, go to the Booking Page, scroll to the bottom, and click “Check Code Balance.” Enter your package code or the email address you used to book to see how many appointments you have left.
Do you have dog poo bins?
Yes, of course! We have poo bins onsite and spare poo bags for you to put all dog waste in (but no other waste). If people are found to be not picking up their dog’s waste then we will have to suspend them from using our facilities. Please think about other users and help to keep it as clean as possible.
Can I book the field with my family and friends?
Yes of course – just book for the correct amount of dogs on the booking form.
If children are attending, remember that the equipment is strictly for dogs’ use only.
I’m a professional dog walker, can I book the field?
Yes – but you need to contact us at hello@wellyandtails.co.uk to book as we have to go through some specific rules and guidance for professionals using the field. All dog walkers need to have their own insurance in place to cover their own activities.
I’m a dog trainer, can I book the field for dog training with clients?
Yes, please get in touch via Facebook or at hello@wellyandtails.co.uk to let us know as dog trainers need to have their own insurance in place to cover their activities with clients. The hire price is still the same as for clients so there’s no increased charge. Our only rule is that no aversive training methods or tools are used during your training at our field.
Is there car parking available?
Yes, we have dedicated car parking for around 5 cars just outside the dog paddock. Please keep your dog in the car until your session time starts so that the previous hirers can leave the paddock safely. We also have a special gated area that you can drive into to let your dogs straight out – however, this parking area isn’t 6ft fenced so please keep your dogs under control until you get into the actual dog park.
What happens if it’s raining?
You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance so please check the weather if you’re concerned about coming in the rain….. However, we are in a very rainy part of the world here! 🙂 Please check the full Rules section for more info.
How do I book the dog park?
Everyone has to book in advance before coming to the park (please don’t turn up if you don’t have a booking). You can book online here – then you will be emailed the code for the gate. When you get to the park, you can unlock the gate using your code.
Can I just turn up without booking?
No! Please don’t do this as it’s likely the park is already booked, and all bookings MUST be made online at https://wellyandtails.co.uk/book
Why is the booking for 50 minutes?
The 50 minutes is so that dog owners and dogs don’t overlap with each other. We ask everyone to have their dogs back in their car by the end of their 50 minute session so there’s ample time for the next person to arrive without having to pass each other. For example, if you book a slot at 2:00pm, you should leave the park at 2:50pm promptly so your dog is back safely in your car ready for the next person’s session to start at 3:00pm with no crossover.
Please also don’t get your dogs out of your car until the previous owners’ dogs are put away in their car as some owners will have reactive dogs that can’t cope with a dog walking around the car park.
I can’t see any available slots for today/tomorrow. Why is this?
If you can’t see any available slots in the booking tool, then it means that the park is fully booked. All available slots will show on the booking page.
What happens when I book?
When you book, you will receive a Booking Confirmation email. On the day of your booking, 2 hours before your booking, you will receive a reminder with your Gate Code, and 1 hour before your booking, you’ll also receive an SMS/text message with your gate code.
Do you offer training or events or socials?
We offer behaviour training and reactivity training, and occasionally run workshops on scentwork or training activities, alongside events such as puppy socials which are usually every other Tuesday morning (look out on the booking page for dates).
