XL Bully Regulations at Welly and Tails

At Welly and Tails, we welcome XL bullies to use the field but there are some rules and regulations that must be followed from our insurers:

Before you visit

  1. The dog is registered with the Index of Exempted Dogs (IED) and a copy of the life certificate is obtained and provided to us in the event of a claim
  2. A copy of the public liability insurance certificate for the dog is obtained and provided to us in the event of a claim
  3. The dog is Neutered – in line with Government Rules
  4. Your dog is Micro Chipped
  5. The dog handler ratio is 1:1 with their handler at all times unless with other dogs from the same household

Using the field with your XL bully

  • Your dog is kept on a lead and muzzled until the gate into the main dog park is shut behind you
  • Your dog is put back on a lead and muzzled before opening the gate to leave the field
  • You can remove the lead and muzzle once inside the secured field
  • Your dog must be kept on lead and muzzled when in the car park or parking bay area
  • If your household has more than 1 dog, you can come to the field together as long as you have a minimum of 1 handler. All dogs’ leads and muzzles can be removed once in the field including the Banned Breeds (but must be all from the same home)
  • If there are dogs from different households, the banned breed will need to remain muzzled and on a lead at all time with a 1:1 handler
  • If the household has more than 1 dog, they can come to the field together, the lead and muzzle can be removed once in the field. If there are dogs from different households the banned breed will need to remain muzzled and on a lead at all time with a 1:1 handler

FAQ

Can I book the field with my friends and their dogs (and my XL bully)?

You can book the field with other people and their dogs BUT your XL bully will need to be muzzled and on-lead when in the field if there are dogs from other households present.

I have other dogs in my household, can they come too?

Yes, if you have other dogs in your household then they can visit too, and you can remove your XL bully’s muzzle and lead once in the field, as long as all dogs are from the same home.

Do I need to send you my Exemption Certificate in order to book the field?

No, we only need to see your Exemption Certificate and Insurance certificate in the event of a claim. You don’t need to send them to us to book the field hire (but your dog must be Exempted and have the appropriate insurance in place already).

Can my XL bully be unmuzzled in the field?

Yes, once you have entered the dog park and shut the dog park six foot high gate behind you and it is securely closed, you can then unmuzzle your dog and take them off lead. They must remain muzzled and on lead when entering the dog park and leaving, and in the car park and shower area.

** EXEMPT DOGS ** I wanted to address how we operate for owners with exempted dogs, as I've had a couple of messages from clients with exempted dogs in the past few days. 1) We DO accept exempted dogs. 2) There is NO extra charge for exempted dogs Our insurance just asks that: ❤️ Only dogs from the same household can attend (so if you have four dogs and one is exempted then you can bring all four, but you couldn't meet up with your friend and their dogs if you're bringing an exempted dog) ❤️ Exempted dogs must keep their muzzle and lead on in the car park but these can be removed once you are in the dog park and the gate has been securely shut. It's important to remember that every insurance provider may have different criteria, so I can't comment on why one place may operate differently or not but this is (thankfully) how ours works which we're grateful for 🙏 Hope that clears things up 🥰

** NEW DOG PARK RULE ** When visiting in future, we will NOT be allowing single dog visits. All dogs MUST now bring matching backup singer dogs for their visit going forward, to allow for perfectly symmetrical photos. Many thanks and thank you for respecting our dog park rules 🙏🙏 (only joking, have to say as sometimes I get messages worrying about if it's true 😂😂)
