Scurry Games 1: Over the hay bale

This is a fun variation on just throwing a ball for your dog, encouraging them to think, use their brain, and use the power of their nose to sniff out the ball or toy which has been thrown out of view.

How to train it:

Step 1: Throw and Go

Hold your dog while you throw a toy over the first hay bale. Let your dog see this happen so they can see you throw it, but they can’t see where the toy has gone because it is hidden behind the hay bale. Wait a moment, then let your dog go find it on their own. Praise them when they find it!

Step 2: Add Another

Once they’ve got the hang of it, throw the toy over two bales so your dog has to travel further to reach the toy.

Step 3: Go the Distance

Repeat the throw, but aim for the last hay bale in the row so that they’re now confidently running and jumping over three hay bales in a row!

Step 4: Bring It Back.

Always get your dog excited about bringing the toy back to you for more fun!

** EXEMPT DOGS ** I wanted to address how we operate for owners with exempted dogs, as I've had a couple of messages from clients with exempted dogs in the past few days. 1) We DO accept exempted dogs. 2) There is NO extra charge for exempted dogs Our insurance just asks that: ❤️ Only dogs from the same household can attend (so if you have four dogs and one is exempted then you can bring all four, but you couldn't meet up with your friend and their dogs if you're bringing an exempted dog) ❤️ Exempted dogs must keep their muzzle and lead on in the car park but these can be removed once you are in the dog park and the gate has been securely shut. It's important to remember that every insurance provider may have different criteria, so I can't comment on why one place may operate differently or not but this is (thankfully) how ours works which we're grateful for 🙏 Hope that clears things up 🥰

** NEW DOG PARK RULE ** When visiting in future, we will NOT be allowing single dog visits. All dogs MUST now bring matching backup singer dogs for their visit going forward, to allow for perfectly symmetrical photos. Many thanks and thank you for respecting our dog park rules 🙏🙏 (only joking, have to say as sometimes I get messages worrying about if it's true 😂😂)
