February 2024 Update

Baby news…

My second baby is due in February so I’ll be out of action for training for a while, but the dog park will continue to run as normal with my husband at the helm and me in the background!

That’s why there hasn’t been any puppy socials scheduled in the diary for the time being, but once I’m back up and running I will do some young puppy social sessions at the barn initially for any pups missing out on crucial socialisation time during that window, then when I’m fighting fit again I’ll be ready to take on all you crazy pups again.

It is also why I’ve not been taking on any reactivity cases for the next few months, but I’ve spoken to anyone who has got in touch to point them in the right direction and give them some immediate behaviour ‘first aid’ help.

Dog park field hire will operate as normal, so no change there! You might get a reply sometimes from my husband instead of me (if it sounds a bit abrupt and serious then what will be him, he’s lovely but doesn’t do social media small talk that well.

In the meantime if you need additional help, behaviour stuff – Tracy at Canines Behaving Badly is a trusted behaviourist who operates in this area.

For puppy classes you have Jen at Clever Dogs Dog Training in Blencow and Katie’s K9s who runs puppy and agility courses in Skelton and other places nearby.

Cancel and Reschedule Options

We’ll still be around for making changes to your bookings as normal, but you can also cancel or reschedule your appointments using the buttons and links at the bottom of your Booking Confirmation emails – this then lets you choose what date and time you want to change to. Just search in your inbox for the original Booking Confirmation email when you made your booking, and you’ll have the option to Cancel or Reschedule your booking (upto 24 hours in advance) using the buttons in the email.

If you book using a Package Order or Coupon code, then your cancelled booking slot will automatically be added back to your Package Order, ready to be used next time.

If you paid for a single visit, then we’ll refund the payment once the cancellation is requested.

Checking your Package Coupon Code

You can now check how many sessions you have left on your Package Order / Coupon Code, by going to the main booking page (wellyandtails.co.uk/book) and at the bottom, it says Check Code Balance.

Have you tried the Scent Wall?

We’re getting photos sent in of lots of your dogs trying the scent wall which is great!

You can make it as easy or difficult for your dog – by hiding treats in every cone, or just a few – or hiding items for them to find and then reward with a treat.

You could also teach them to freeze or sit when they locate a scent – this possibilities are endless!

If you want to get started training your dog to search, I created a free guide to getting started in scentwork over in the Hub!

What’s in the Hub?

Did you know there are free training and behaviour resources over on the Welly and Tails website for park visitors about different topics.

Just go to the Welly and Tails website and look for the Hub!

** EXEMPT DOGS ** I wanted to address how we operate for owners with exempted dogs, as I've had a couple of messages from clients with exempted dogs in the past few days. 1) We DO accept exempted dogs. 2) There is NO extra charge for exempted dogs Our insurance just asks that: ❤️ Only dogs from the same household can attend (so if you have four dogs and one is exempted then you can bring all four, but you couldn't meet up with your friend and their dogs if you're bringing an exempted dog) ❤️ Exempted dogs must keep their muzzle and lead on in the car park but these can be removed once you are in the dog park and the gate has been securely shut. It's important to remember that every insurance provider may have different criteria, so I can't comment on why one place may operate differently or not but this is (thankfully) how ours works which we're grateful for 🙏 Hope that clears things up 🥰

** NEW DOG PARK RULE ** When visiting in future, we will NOT be allowing single dog visits. All dogs MUST now bring matching backup singer dogs for their visit going forward, to allow for perfectly symmetrical photos. Many thanks and thank you for respecting our dog park rules 🙏🙏 (only joking, have to say as sometimes I get messages worrying about if it's true 😂😂)
